We have known our latest recruit – Nadine Weaver since 2002 when she first came to work
in one of our other business enterprises in Brighton. Nadine is from Swansea in South Wales and had already been working for some time in the St. James Veterinary Group in Wales with a BTEC National Diploma as a Veterinary Nurse.
She has since greatly extended her reach, become qualified in teaching both in the UK and overseas, with some considerable time spent working in Brazil, where we share many links in common.
We are very pleased to report that Nadine has successful qualified from Swansea University with a degree in Environmental Conservation.
Nadine has joined the team here at Isis Environmental in June 2015 and will be working on a number of projects, where we need additional research capability for new environmental business start-ups and as advisers in growth acceleration for SME’s with an environmental product or service.
Handily, Nadine can bring to the table considerable experience in Marine Biology in which Swansea excels, plus a good set of core skills, including speaking fluent Portuguese and teaching/training experience
It is always worthwhile taking the time to participate in events which are taking place in your area, and it was with this in mind that we attended the inaugural launch of the Green Growth Platform in May this year.
The Green Growth Platform will act as a catalyst for growth and innovation, and will provide a range of services to small and medium-sized enterprises and is a five year programme with £3 million of funding from the Higher Education Funding Council.
The University of Brighton has for many years worked in partnership with businesses to combine academic expertise and research with business applications and we have had continued links with the University over many years, originally working to supply an environmental auditing course back in the 1990’s and providing an external examiner for the MSc in environmental science, to more recent training work.
We very much support the work being done by Green Growth Platform being both members as well as advisers to this innovative initiative.
October the 15th 2013, saw Isis Environmental Ltd return to a contributory role in presenting the joint Argyll Environmental Limited and Brighton University Foundation Course on Environmental Auditing, which was delivered at Brighton University School of Environment & Technology.
It was a strange case of Deja vu with our Principal Consultant – Mark Hadley having developed the original course with Brighton University back in the 1990’s when running Environmental Auditors Limited, so it was lovely to contribute to the new course Handbook and re-work a section of the course that looked at the importance of environmental management systems, ISO 14001 and EMAS in providing structured systems to assess continual environmental assessment.
All seemed to go well with the new course students, aided and abetted by a fantastic team from Argyll Environmental Limited one of our clients and with whom we have shared many projects, and of course have worked with a number of their directors for well over 15 years.
This all ties in well with our role going back to setting up the forerunner of IEMA back in the early 1990’s, so it has been fantastic to see the culmination of these efforts delivered by one of the largest environmental professional bodies in the world, to see that Brighton University continues to hold an exemplary position in the training and development of professional environmental auditors.
It was refreshing to be asked to participate in the new course by leading environmental practitioners Argyll Environmental who are based in Brighton, but of course to have access to unsurpassed environmental databases and a full range of key staff involved in the course delivery.
